Application of the Washington Township Independent School District for Transfer from the Dover Area School District to the Northern York County School District

Notice of Application and Opportunity for Hearing

 On November 12, 2014, the State Board of Education (Board) received a copy of a decree of the Court of Common Pleas of York County creating the Washington Township Independent School District (WTISD) as an independent school district for the sole purpose of its transfer from the Dover Area School District (Dover) to the Northern York County School District (Northern York). Entered at Doc. No. 2012-SU-03036-39, the decree was issued under section 242.1 of the Public School Code (School Code) of 1949 (24 P. S. § 2-242.1) and represents an application to the Board for approval of the creation of the WTISD and its transfer from Dover to Northern York.

 In accordance with the regulations of the Board in 22 Pa. Code § 1.5 (relating to applicability of general rules before the Board), the application for transfer will be considered by the Board in accordance with 1 Pa. Code Part II (relating to General Rules of Administrative Practice and Procedure). A committee, appointed by the Board Chairperson, will conduct all necessary proceedings under 1 Pa. Code Part II and to recommend action by the Board under section 293.1 of the School Code (24 P. S. § 2-293.1).

 Unless a written petition to intervene, notice of intervention or protest, along with a written request for public hearing, is received by the Board no later than 4 p.m. on December 29, 2014, the Board may determine the application for transfer without hearing. Filings must be received by the deadline at the State Board of Education, 333 Market Street, 1st Floor, Harrisburg, PA 17126-0333.
